This policy covers UnlockRole's website (unlockrole.com) and its companion browser extension, UnlockRole. It explains what data we collect, how it's used, and who it's shared with.
What we collect
When you create an account and fill out your profile, we store:
- Your name and email address (from Google sign-in, or entered directly)
- Phone number, city, and country
- LinkedIn and portfolio URLs
- Work authorization status, visa sponsorship needs, relocation and remote-work preferences, notice period
- Years of experience and desired salary range
- Your uploaded resume file
- Which job postings you mark as applied to (the job's URL, and its title and company when available), so Role Finder and the extension can show and filter them
The browser extension reads your profile from your UnlockRole account (only while you're signed in) and uses it locally in your browser to fill in job application forms. It also detects the job title, company, and description on the application page you're viewing, so it can resolve relevant context for any AI-drafted answers you request. None of that page content is stored by us beyond the single request needed to generate an answer. When you click "Mark as applied" in the extension (or in Role Finder), it adds an entry to your applied-jobs list on your account; you can remove any entry at any time, and entries are deleted automatically after six months.
How we use it
Your profile and resume data is used only to:
- Autofill job application forms through the browser extension
- Optionally draft suggested answers to free-text application questions, and extract fields from your resume to prefill your profile, using your resume, profile, and the job posting you're applying to (processed via Groq's API; never used to auto-answer demographic, legal, or consent-related questions)
- Show your profile summary in the extension's popup and in-page panel
- Track which roles you've applied to, so you can filter them out of Role Finder search and see your application status on a job page
We never sell your data, and we never use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Third parties we rely on
- Google - for signing in (OAuth), shared across UnlockRole, Role Finder, and Resume Builder
- Resend - sends account emails, such as your welcome message; receives your name and email address for that purpose only
- Groq - processes resume and job-posting text to generate AI-drafted answers and to extract profile fields from your resume; it does not receive your name, email, phone, or other identifying profile fields
- Dodo Payments - handles premium subscription billing as our payment processor; we never see or store your card details
- Google Analytics - measures aggregate site traffic and how visitors move between UnlockRole, Role Finder, and Resume Builder; it receives page URLs and a randomly generated visitor ID, but not your name, email, or other profile fields, and it is configured not to log IP addresses or run advertising features
- A third-party survey provider - when you uninstall the extension you are taken to an optional feedback form run by this provider. It receives only what you choose to answer and the extension's version number, not your account details
Cookies
We use a signed session cookie to keep you logged in across unlockrole.com, Job Finder, and Resume Builder. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to count visits and measure navigation between our apps. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell any of this data.
Data retention and deletion
Your profile and resume are kept as long as your account exists. You can delete your account yourself at any time from the "Delete account" section of your profile page: this permanently removes your profile, resumes, and sign-in across UnlockRole, Role Finder, and Resume Builder. You can also email us (below) and we'll do it for you.
Dodo Payments, our payment processor, keeps its own record of any transactions as it is legally required to; deleting your account here does not erase those billing records held by Dodo.
