The Part of Job Hunting Nobody Puts in a Highlight Reel

August 29, 2026

Let's talk about the part of job hunting nobody puts in a highlight reel.

You find a role. You open the application. It's the same 40 fields you've filled out a hundred times before, on a hundred different company career pages. Name, address, work authorization, notice period, "why do you want to work here" for the fifth time this week.

Then you tailor your resume again. Reword the same three bullet points to match slightly different keywords. Attach it. Submit. Get an auto reply. Maybe an auto rejection a few days later. Repeat tomorrow, on a different ATS, with a different layout, asking for the exact same information in a slightly different order.

It's not a test of fit. It's friction.

None of that effort is really about whether you're a good fit. It's just friction. Retyping your own information over and over, formatting it to survive a filter, hoping something finally lands, while the actual search for the right role gets squeezed into whatever time is left over.

What we're building

That's the part we've been building UnlockRole around:

  • One profile with your details, filled in once.
  • Job search that pulls from where companies are actually posting.
  • A resume that adjusts itself to the role instead of you rebuilding it every time.
  • And when you land on an application form, it fills itself in instead of asking you to type your own name for the hundredth time this month.

We're not done yet, but we're close, and this is exactly the problem we started with. If any of this sounds painfully familiar, follow along - we'll be sharing more soon.
